A new façade for the town hall in Kassel

The building wing K of the town hall in Kassel did not apply to the current energetic requirements of a modern office building. Therefore, the city of Kassel tendered a competition.

We are very happy to have won the 3^rd prize within this challenging competition. Our design approach interprets the opposite town hall and its historical stone façade asking for the relation between them. Within this difficult context of positioning the volume, the modern design for the façade is sustainable and visually connects to the surrounding buildings. The classical design guidelines are translated into a modern, dynamic and functional position finding its answer to the requirements of the competition as well as to the urban surrounding.
